National Nontraditional Student Week 2012

Eastern Illinois University’s School of Continuing Education will offer events for National Nontraditional Student Week, scheduled for November 4-8.
National Nontraditional Student Week is an annual, nationwide week of appreciation for nontraditional students and their dedication to education. Nontraditional students can be adult students, commuter students, and transfer students. In early November each year, campuses across the country show their dedication to helping nontraditional students become more visible within the higher education community.
Events are scheduled throughout the week, and all are free to nontraditional students, their friends and family. See the Schedule of Events: NNSW 2012 below.

Registration for Spring semester has begun. It's time to register for classes and start planning your Spring 2013 semester at EIU. Here are the dates for registration, which opens according to standing:

Freshmen: November 12

Midwest Lifelong Learning Conference

Join us in Chicago April 10-12, for the 2013 Midwest Lifelong Learning Conference. This conference will bring together providers of lifelong learning programs from Illinois and neighboring states to share program ideas and research findings. Potential participants include staff and directors of community college and university-based lifelong learning programs, senior centers, area agencies on aging, nursing homes and assisted living centers. John Holton, Ph.D., director of the Illinois Department on Aging, will provide the welcome at the opening session. Nancy Merz Nordstrom, M.Ed., of Road Scholar Elderhostel Institute Network, will present the Keynote address.

Community Reception for Academy of Lifetime Learning on November 16
The EIU Academy of Lifetime Learning and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Services invite all community members age 50 and over to attend a Community Reception on November 16, 2012 in Doudna Fine Arts Center's Gallery Hall. Academy of Lifetime Learning's Anna Maria Island, Florida Trip: January 27-31, 2013

The Academy of Lifetime Learning has planned a visit in late January 2013, to Anna Maria Island, Florida. Enjoy 5 days and 4 nights of EIU Academy events on the Florida Gulf Coast, from January 27-31, 2013.
The trip will include two private museum tours to the Salvador Dali Museum
and Ringling Museum of Art, private tour of the Mote Marine Laboratory, as well as a tour of the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.
The Academy will join the University of South Florida's Academy of Lifelong Learning group at a reception and numerous learning events including their popular Einstein Group.
The field experience will be hosted by Dean William Hine and Janna Overstreet. Check out the Anna Maria Island, Florida Trip webpage for the full itinerary and cost, as well as other details about what the trip has in store.
